Goals. REALMA (Red Europa-América Latina en Matemética Aplicada, European - Latin American Network for Applied Mathematics) is a scientific network and an associated remote working environment in the field of applied mathematics. It connects educational and research institutions in Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Economic Area, aiming to develop a comprehensive program of regional cooperation, including

organizing conferences and thematic schools;

supporting mobility of faculty and students;

promoting distance education and availability of scientific information online;
Partners. Geographically, the network includes five Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru), five countries in the Caribbean (Cuba, Haiti, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique), one institution from metropolitan France and one transnational institution (UNESCO).
History. The REALMA project is a result of many specific cooperative initiatives that preceded its creation. The network was officially established on December 16th, 2005.
Organization. As for now, the organization of the network is quite informal. More formal structures are to be developed in the future.
